40k Imperial Guard

In a brief burst of motivation, I updated the basing of my ancient Imperial Guard force. The full collection is here. Goes to show that consistent basing can make even 30+ year old paint jobs look reasonable on the tabletop!

Imperial Guard Group Shot

This is how a completed army looks like 🙂

Click on pics for bigger versions. Top tray are the core elements, bottom tray are the specialists. Top tray:

Left column, front to back: Regimental HQ with Snipers (nope, they wouldn’t be fielded that way…), Infantry Company, Fire Support and Ogryn squads with transports

Middle column, front to back: Infantry Company, Rough Rider Company, Hell Hounds and Salamander

Right column, front to back: Vanquishers, two Tank Companies, Demolishers, Executioners

Bottom Tray:

Left column, front to back: Super Heavy Tanks (4 Baneblades, 2 Shadowswords, 1 Stormhammer), Deathstrike Missile Launcher, Objectives, Bunkers

Middle left column, front to back: Basilisk Company, Bombards, Manticores, Hydra Flak Company

Middle right column, front to back: Storm Trooper, Valkyries, Vultures, Thunderbolts, Marauder Bomber

Right column, front to back: Objective, Sentinels, Leviathan

Comes to about 9800 points total. And there is absolutely nothing left to paint for this army, unless I stumble upon a Capitol Imperialis at a reasonable cost at some point.

And their big brothers from the Warhammer 40k cabinet. This was actually my very first 40k army. The infantry models are all from the old Rogue Trader plastic kit, so much of this stuff is close to two decades old. The Baneblade is from Armorcast.

Imperial Guard Leviathan & Stormhammer

More stuff from January: A mighty Leviathan and a slightly less mighty Stormhammer. These were the last Imperial Guard models on my desk. Another army completed (unless I find a Capitol Imperialis somewhere for a reasonable price…).

As always, larger images of both models can be found on the Imperial Guard page.

Epic Imperial Guard

While waiting for the final wash to dry on the LatD models I painted up my last Imperial Guard infantry company. Nothing fancy as I had to match the colour scheme of the rest of the army. I have updated the Epic IG page already. This completes my Epic IG army with no other IG models to be found (unpainted) in the hobby room (well, except those that are assigned to the as yet completely unpainted Adeptus Mechanicus army but that’s a different project…).

I have already made plenty of progress on the LatD for ToEG. Finished three undivided cults with fire support as well as some Khorne Biker. Pics will follow once the wash is dry.
