More Valkyries. A command Hearthguard unit as well as one with Dane Axes. The heroes cover the general Warlord as well as any Heroes that my daughter might want to take. In their first game, the Valkyries/Jomsvikings soundly trashed my sons Vikings!

My daughter asked me for a SAGA warband but wanted women. So after some searching I went with Shadowforge Valkyries models. I am using Jomsvikings rules which seems to reflect their elite/angry style. Some minor conversions gave me four units of Hearthguard plus some additional models that are in progress.

Ragnar Lothbrok and, inspired by the great Vikings TV series, his brother Rollo (old Gripping Beast model).

Egil and some Viking Hirdmen.

Here comes the core of the Vikings. Two units of Bondi. I went with axes mostly to visually separate them from the spear-armed Anglo-Saxons.

Good King Harald Hardrada and some Varangian Guards.

Some Geburs with Spears – using bucklers to distinguish them from the Ceorls – and assorted generic Levies with bows, slings and javelins. This should cover most warband types!

Again, I am behind in posting (and photographing) models. I have now completed the rest of the Anglo-Saxon Warband with the addition of two units of Hearthguard and a generic Warlord. I will be painting some of the special leaders later, as well as adding a generic pool of peasants from which different warbands can draw their levy contingent.
The models are a mix of metal and plastic as usual. At the very bottom are some fatigue markers using the wooden dial bases that I use for other games (not sure how useful it will be as the dials go from 1 to 12 which seems overkill for SAGA – I might replace them with simple “chip” style fatigue markers later).
