War of the Roses

The English War of the Roses is a unique add-on to the Age of Chivalry. I assembled this as a generic force with command figures for both the Yorkist and Lancastrian side. The figures are all from Perry.

Heroes: The Lancastrian contingent is led by either Henry VII on horse or Edward the Prince of Wales on foot, advised by Longstrother. Henry VI is available as a hero figure. Their Yorkist opponents can be commanded by Richard III on horse or Edward IV on foot.

Lancastrian leaders: Henry VII on horse, Edward the Prince of Wales and Longstrother on foot, Henry VI.
Yorkist leaders: Richard III on horse and Edward IV on foot with Lord Sommerset.

Hearthguards: Two contingent of men-at-arms on foot form the centre of the battle line. I replicated real heraldry of the time but these could of course serve on either side of the civil war.

Lancastrian men-at-arms. In livery from the left: John Talbot Earl of Shrewsbury, William Neville Lord of Fauconberg, and Richard Neville Earl of Warwick.
Yorkist men-at-arms. In livery from the left: William Lord Hastings, Richard Duke of York, Lord Conyers, and Sir Richard Fiennes Lord Darce.

Warriors: Twenty-four billmen support the men-at-arms in three groups of eight. To distinguish them from my earlier English force, I gave them a bit more cohesive colours as well as some custom banners connected to historical lords of the era.

The factions can draw on Irish mercenaries in the form of Kern light infantry and elite Gallowglasses.

The force can of course draw on plenty of archers from my English collection.
